BrainRetain mentoring program

The BrainRetain program is currently in the process of matching mentors with African junior research applicants. If you would like to register as a mentor please register here . We will be in touch with all applicants within the next two weeks with information on potential mentors. We look forward to many productive and rewarding mentoring partnerships this year.


The Irish African Parternship for Research Capacity Building (IAPRCB) is a network for information exchange and sharing of knowledge on ‘research in the service of development’.
Its activity focuses on four strands, all of which are relate to building sustainable research capacity in partnership with university institutions in sub-Saharan Africa. Join us and get involved in higher education research, academic mentoring and networking with Africa based researchers.

Political boost for university and research initiatives
African leaders have supported higher education and research by adopting the statute for the Pan-African University, approving plans for a Tunisia-based African Union Institute for Statistics, and endorsing the creation of an African Observatory on Science, Technology and Innovation and a Pan-African Intellectual Property Organisation.

EDULINK II Call for Proposals launched

The Call for Proposals for EDULINK II, ACP-EU Co-operation Programme in Higher Education, was launched on the 19/03/2012 on the EuropeAid website.
EDULINK II is open to public or private Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs), networks of HEIs and Regional Institutions of Higher Education. The current Call for Proposals is designed to continue fostering co-operation in the field of Higher Education between the countries of the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States (ACP States) and the European Union.

Report on EARIMA / IAP Research Capacity Building Summer School

A report on the latest IAP summer school, which took place in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania 22nd-24th September 2011 is now available. The Summer School was a tripartite joint venture between: EARIMA (East African Research & Innovation Management Association) led by the Research Directorate of the University of Dar es Salaam, theIrish African Partnership and the RIMI4AC Project.

Commonwealth Residential School on Climate Change

The DocLinks / Commonwealth Residential School on Climate Change is now open for registration. The school will be held at the University of Botswana, July 9-15th 2012 and is open primarily to African and European doctoral students enrolled at Higher Education Institutions in Africa or Europe.
