Foresight exercise

An IAP research team (Sheila Moorcroft, Ronaldo Munck, Eimear Barrett, Mary Goretti Nakabugo and Niamh Gaynor) presented a draft Foresight Report [3.07 MB] to the third Maputo workshop in May 2009.

Foresight encompasses a wide range of tools and techniques to enable organisations to look to the future and take advantage of its potential, while minimising its risks. The team relied on scenarios which are plausible, internally consistent views of the future relevant to the topic at hand.

This exercise presented an understanding of research capacity building (RCB) needs based on the principle of local relevance in the African context and its applicability to poverty eradication.
